Sleeping Beauty
In exploring the creation of virtual sculptures I accepted the invitation by Roos Tulen to participate in her project Lichaamsbeeld, creating Sleeping Beauty (2018).
This young artist is struggling with her body-image and in this project she’s going to extremes in shaping it into an ideal.
I portrayed her in the stillness of a sleeping pose. A vulnerable beauty rendered in a fantasy kind of marble, created by projecting a newborn flesh-like texture on the digital wireframe model. The image was showcased with a print of 200 x 300 cm.
