Biobased Artworks
The Biobased Artworks series (2013) has been created for the occasion of the Biobased Wunderkammer, a presentation curated by Jalila Essaïdi during the dutch design week on green and sustainable design.
First, a Scanning Electron Microscope was used to make microscopical photographs of bio- and biobased materials.
These images show the wonderful shapes of nature in its full glory, especially if compared to rather dull SEM images from plastics and other artificially created materials. I used a selection of images of these biobased materials to literally place them on a pedestal as a piece of art in a digital photomontage series.
